Katherine Brower

Katherine Brower currently serves as an urban planner in the Capital Development and Planning Office at the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks. She is responsible for strategic planning for the Department’s capital improvements and preparing the annual capital budget requests. This past year, Ms. Brower has lead the planning process for the City’s aquatic facilities and has worked to further the implementation the Department’s Recreation Center Plan. She has overseen the development of the Northwest Park Master Plan and is the project manager for the new Cherry Hill and Patterson Park Recreation Centers. She also serves as the coordinator for the Patterson Park Working Group.

Ms. Brower has spent twenty years working in New York City and Philadelphia as an urban planner and landscape architect. Past positions have been with Lager Raabe Skafte, a landscape architecture firm in Philadelphia, the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in NYC, Project for Public Spaces, Inc. in NYC and the New York City Planning Department. Ms. Brower has also worked on projects in Germany and South Africa.

Ms. Brower is trained as a photographer and has exhibited in Baltimore and New York City. She earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has a MSUP (Urban Planning) from Columbia and a MA (Environmental Psychology) from the City University of New York. She has a MLA (Landscape Architecture) and a Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Virginia.
